Study Purpose/Description
The Impact of Asthma study aims to understand how daily changes in asthma symptoms affect the lives of people with asthma. This research could lead to new ways of measuring clinical study results and potentially speed up the development of new asthma treatments.
What’s Involved?
Taking part in this study involves:
- Performing a lung function test at home using a portable device that you will receive from the research team.
- Completing an electronic diary about your symptoms and medication use.
Participants will perform these activities (~10 minutes) twice a day for a period of 13 weeks.
For each week where at least 80% of the electronic diaries are completed, you will receive $50 to recognise the time you have put into the study. Participants can receive up to $650 in total. Participant compensation will be made via bank transfer at the conclusion of the study (in one total amount).
Some of the participants in this study will also be invited for two interviews of 30 minutes each, to talk about how they experience their symptoms. Selection for the interviews is random, and researchers will not know beforehand which participants will be interviewed.
All participants who take part in the interviews will receive $50 to recognise the time they have put into the study.
