SleepBack Study

The "SleepFix" app is made for people who have difficulty sleeping. Researchers from The University of Sydney are investigating if improved sleep helps to reduce how much pain affects daily activities for those struggling with back pain and sleep.

Study Purpose/Description

The “SleepFix” app is made for people who have difficulty sleeping. Researchers from the University of Sydney and the Woolcock Institute investigating if improved sleep helps to reduce how much pain affects daily activities for those struggling with back pain and sleep.

What’s Involved?

Taking part in this study will involve completing an online survey and phone interview to determine your eligibility for the study.

Eligible participants will be randomly placed into one of two groups: treatment or control.

  • Treatment Group: Participants will receive the SleepFix@ App for a personalized three-week sleep program.
  • Control Group: Participants will receive weekly sleep education modules for three weeks.

Recruitment criteria

The study is open to adults who:

  • Have chronic low back pain (pain in the lower back region for 3 months or more)
  • Have difficulties sleeping
  • Have access to a smartphone
