Study Purpose/Description
Type 2 Diabetes is a serious chronic condition affecting over one million adults in Australia. Poorly managed type 2 diabetes can lead to severe health complications, including high blood pressure, heart failure, and kidney diseases. Healthy eating is essential for type 2 diabetes management. While nutrition information on food labels is designed to help people make informed decisions during food purchase, many Australians with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes face challenges in understanding and using food labels effectively.
This project aims to explore the barriers and enablers that Australians with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes face in using food labels. Understanding these factors will help us to improve food label usage, dietary choices, and manage type 2 diabetes.
What’s Involved?
You’ll complete an online survey (20–30 minutes) about how you use food labels and what challenges you face when shopping.
The questionnaire will include questions on demographics (e.g., age, gender, education), your health behaviour (e.g., diet, physical activity, alcohol intake, smoking), your food label knowledge, food label usage, diabetes knowledge, and dietary intake.
Each participant can complete the survey only once to ensure that every participant is eligible for the gift voucher draw a single time. By completing the survey, you can enter the draw to win 1 of 20 x $50 gift vouchers. Your feedback will help shape future studies about diabetes education and food labelling system.
