Study Purpose/Description
Vaping (using e-cigarettes) remains a significant concern among adolescents. This study aims to explore how both parents and secondary school staff support young people to avoid or quit vaping. For parents, we’re interested in understanding the types of support they offer their children, how frequently they provide this support, and their motivation to help prevent or stop vaping. For school staff, we’re examining the actions currently being taken in schools to address vaping and the factors that help or hinder their ability to support students. The study also looks at how schools engage with and support parents in this space.
What’s Involved?
If you choose to take part, you’ll be asked to complete a one-off, anonymous online survey that takes approximately 15 minutes.
- Parents will be asked about themselves and their child’s vaping behaviour, the support they provide, and whether they receive any assistance from their child’s school.
- School staff will be asked about themselves, their school, their role, and their school’s approach to vaping. Questions will explore perceived challenges and enablers, existing policies, and priorities around student wellbeing.
After completing the survey, you’ll have the option to enter a draw to win one of four $50 gift vouchers by providing your first name and email address via a separate link. Your contact details will remain separate from your survey responses to ensure anonymity.
You can complete the survey on your phone, tablet, or computer – anywhere with internet access.
