Study Purpose/Description
The primary aim of this study is to identify factors associated with the practice of mindfulness among individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain. The secondary aims include:
a) identifying how individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain are learning and practising mindfulness; and
b) identifying reasons for practising mindfulness, reasons for ceasing to practise mindfulness, and reasons for never practising mindfulness, among individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain.
We hope the findings of this research will be valuable in informing the practice of clinicians and mindfulness providers, and in guiding further research into mindfulness interventions for people with chronic musculoskeletal pain.
What’s involved?
You will be asked to complete a short online questionnaire that confirms your eligibility to participate in the study, then you will be invited to sign an electronic consent form. Once your consent to participate is obtained, you will be invited to complete an online survey.
Completing the online survey will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes. You do not need to complete the survey in one sitting – you can save your progress and return later.
The survey includes questions about the following topics:
- Your sociodemographic characteristics (e.g., age, gender, and employment status).
- Your engagement in some common health-related behaviours, such as mindfulness meditation.
- Your health status and experience of chronic musculoskeletal pain.
- How you use health care services and their access to them.
