The Feasibility of the Decentralised Clinical Trial (DCT) model in Australia

Researchers from The University of Queensland want understand how acceptable, in demand, and easily integrated decentralised clinical trials are within the existing Australian healthcare system.

Study Purpose/Description

This research explores decentralised clinical trials, which let participants complete trials at home or nearby, making them more accessible than traditional hospital-based trials. We aim to understand how acceptable, in demand, and easily integrated these trials are within the existing Australian healthcare system.

What’s Involved?

This research study is divided into two phases.

Phase 1 – complete a 15-minute online questionnaire to describe your experience with, and opinion of, clinical trials in Australia.

Phase 2 – In the second phase of this project, participants can join a focus group or have an individual interview with a study team member, either by phone or Zoom. These sessions cover similar topics as the questionnaires but in more detail.

Participants can choose to enter one of two gift card draws in recognition of their time. Any email addresses used for the draw will remain separate from data responses.

Phase 1: $20 gift cards. Phase 2 = $50 gift cards.

Recruitment criteria

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

1. Currently are, or previously have been, involved in one or more Clinical Trials, in Australia. This could be in the position of a/an: participant (or legal guardian); investigator; support staff at a trial site; employee of a Clinical Research Organisation; sponsor or other key stakeholders.

2. Are aged 18 and over.

3. Have access to a phone, tablet, or computer with internet connection.

4. Are able to read and write in English.
