Study Purpose/Description
This study aims to document the accuracy of home blood pressure devices and a research ring worn on a finger. Participants are fitted with a 24-hour ambulatory monitor to record blood pressure during a normal day. Results from your home blood pressure device and the ring will be compared to ‘gold standard’ 24-hour ambulatory measures. Our results may help shape future guidelines for both home blood pressure monitoring and new wearable technologies.
What’s Involved?
This study involves:
- 2 visits to the research lab at the University of Sydney (Visit 1 will take up to 1.5 hours, visit 2 will take 10 minutes).
- Demographic, health and blood pressure-related questionnaires (approx. 20-30 minutes).
- Please bring your home blood pressure device to the visit as we compare it against our research device. If we are able to run further accuracy tests on your home device, you may leave it with us. We will give you a report about your device (not available for cordless devices, unfortunately).
- You will receive a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure results report. The report may be shared with your GP or cardiologist.
