OPTIMISE-BP

You are invited to take part in a research study looking at different ways of managing high blood pressure (also called hypertension). The study is completed entirely by telehealth (phone calls), so no in person visits are needed. Taking part is voluntary, and participation lasts about 12 to 14 weeks.

Study Purpose/Description

This study is looking at two different ways of managing high blood pressure:

  • Approach 1 – A trial doctor manages your blood pressure lowering medications, with less frequent BP monitoring.
  • Approach 2 – Your GP manages your blood pressure lowering medication, with more frequent BP monitoring.

The aim is to see which approach helps participants achieve better blood pressure control.

What’s Involved?

The study runs for 12–14 weeks and is completed entirely by phone (no in‑person visits).

You will be sent a blood pressure monitor to use at home. If your blood pressure readings are high, you will also be asked to have a blood test and a phone appointment with a study doctor to confirm you are eligible.

You will then be randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups, with follow‑up phone calls at 4 weeks and 12 weeks, and a final blood test at the end of the study.
