Study Purpose/Description
Currently, there is limited data on the physical activity and sedentary behaviour of South Asian adults in Australia, and virtually none on children in this population. Understanding children’s physical activity patterns is crucial, as behaviours formed in early childhood tend to persist into adulthood and significantly influence long-term health. Furthermore, mothers play a key role in shaping children’s health behaviours, making it vital to examine both mother and child in tandem.
What’s involved?
Interested participants will complete an online survey hosted on Qualtrics.
The survey will be divided into two sections. In the first part, we will ask questions about mother’s sociodemographic characteristics, physical activity and sedentary behaviour practices and individual, social, and environmental factors that may influence these behaviours. In the second part, we will ask similar questions about one child aged 2-12 years.
It is anticipated that the survey will take around 30-45 minutes.
