Study Purpose/Description
This project aims to examine whether a 10-week multidisciplinary group exercise, nutrition, and self-management program OR an individual telehealth counselling for older adults with Type 2 Diabetes and Osteoarthritis improves cardiometabolic health, fitness, quality of life and pain.
What’s Involved?
Participants will be required to complete Initial and Final Health and Fitness assessments. Following a baseline assessment, participants will be randomly allocated to the Meta-Health Clinic Group Intervention or the Individual Telehealth Intervention.
The group intervention includes attending the UNSW Health and Lifestyle Clinic in Randwick for an 8-week Exercise Physiologist and Dietitian program. These group sessions will be one hour (1hr) in duration and will involve 8x group exercise and nutrition education sessions by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Accredited Practising Dietitian.
The individual telehealth intervention involves four (4x) online sessions of one hour (1hr) duration once every 2-3 weeks supervised by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Accredited Practising Dietitian.
